NAME: Laslow (aka Inigo)
AGE: ~21
CANON: Fire Emblem: Fates (Conquest)
CANON HISTORY: wiki ahoy; His father is Chrom and Lucina is his older sister.
CANON PERSONALITY: Laslow presents himself as a casanova, though to many he just comes off as shallow or an unsuccessful womanizer. He's very flirtatious, usually spending most of his free time chatting up the girls around him with flattery and tea dates, or looking for girls so he can then proceed to chat them up with flattery and tea dates. He rarely goes so far as being a creep-- he's persistent, but he takes rejection... reasonably well, in that he will leave and go mope to some other friend about the woes of his life, but he won't keep bothering someone if they're genuinely bothered by him. He's very overdramatic, and can overblow unimportant problems to seem like utter catastrophes (see: he definitely bawled his eyes out over some flowers dying). On the other hand, he's sort of so wrapped up in his own attitude that it makes him irresponsible, and a poor judge of character. He constantly continues with his flights of fancy despite admonishment from others in his life, and when he gets robbed by a date or starts a fight with someone's significant other, he brushes it off as an average rejection and moves on, and will probably still try to be friendly to someone even if they're blatantly up to no good. He's reckless, pushing forward in life or on the battlefield despite knowing the risks (and while it doesn't seem like that, he does know), and often speaking without thinking; he wants to impress people and appear to be a courageous and suave hero, but really it mostly just gets him in trouble. All of this and his cheerful demeanor mean most people see him as sort of an airhead, and that's not entirely off the mark.
However, while he deliberately presents himself in such a way, he also takes issue with the fact that people see him as shallow and airheaded. The truth is, he's sort of an over-thinker and can be a worrier; he worries about what his parents think of him, worries if he made the right decision in battle, and he's incredibly self-conscious when people stare at him. He practices his dances during the night when no one is awake, and would practice swordplay alone in front of his mother's grave in the same way, where no one could see him. When he was a child he was painfully shy, unable to speak to people outside his family or look people in the eye and easily driven to tears; his flirtatious attitude and feigned overconfidence developed as a way to get over his shyness, essentially as an exposure therapy sort of thing. So, despite seeming to be very forward with his advances, he's very easily embarrassed when the tables are turned on him. On top of that, he grew up in a world at war and lost his parents at a young age; he was forced to learn to fight and fend for himself at a young age, and all his friends had likewise been orphaned and forced into a life of bloodshed. The world was so grim and everyone around him was likewise so serious and grave, that Laslow just desperately wanted people to be able to smile and have fun again. He wanted to see people be happy, and so he left the worrying about more important things to those more capable of handling it-- instead he adapted his upbeat and cheery ways to try and cheer people up, whether it be smiling with him, amused by his antics, or even just frustrated over his idiocy-- at least if they were annoyed with him, they could be agonizing over something that wasn't life-threatening, for once. For better or worse, it instilled in him a need to keep smiling despite everything, which both helps him get through problems, but also means he keeps his real emotions at a distance.
Despite everything, his cheerfulness isn't entirely put-on; he truly does care about people deep down, and is deeply sensitive and empathetic towards other people-- sometimes even towards plants, animals, basically any other living thing (except bugs, they are dirty and gross). He jumps at the chance to help people, and in fact will spend as much of his time helping people and trying to solve their problems as he will getting himself in trouble. When he is able to feel more confident in himself and with the people around him, he doesn't feel the need to pretend to be a womanizer-- when he goes to a new place and meets new people, he feels the need to fall back into the overconfident persona. But when he doesn't, Laslow's true disposition reveals itself. He's much more soft-spoken when speaking sincerely, like his mother before him he has a deep passion for dance, and he is a kind and affable boy when you get past the pomp and circumstance of his social defense mechanisms. Unfortunately, all the put-on confidence in the world can't keep him from falling victim to stage fright, but he continues to practice by himself simply for the joy of it, and in hopes of making his deceased parents proud. When it comes to these sort of things he's a perfectionist, becoming absolutely outraged at the prospect of someone watching him when he hasn't absolutely perfected a dance. But he dreams of being a professional one day when the fighting is over, and works tirelessly to achieve it.
Because of this-- despite his reckless nature-- he's quite dedicated and self-disciplined. He practices his dancing every day (even if it's in secret), and is essentially self-taught in swordfighting; his parents didn't have time to teach him much, and it's unlikely he had any sort of professional tutor, so the only people he had to learn from were his other friends and his sister. He chose to become a mercenary to help the war effort, and worked hard to be proficient in swordfighting as well as dancing. His physicality leaks over to feed into his overdramatic antics, and he (appears) to wear his heart on his sleeve. It's all a good way to keep himself out of his thoughts, as it's sometimes hard for him to not dwell on the past and get all sentimental when he's not doing anything. He tries to tell himself and his two companions, Selena and Odin, that they shouldn't get attached to people when they know they'll be leaving, but... he doesn't even really try to stop himself from pouring his heart out.
SKILLS/ABILITIES: -Trained by his mother at a young age, Laslow has the muscle strength and coordination of a professional dancer that has been doing it their entire lives. He practices every day, and thus remains in peak physical condition with high stamina and agility.
-In addition to that he trained as a mercenary, and has been fighting with a sword long enough that he's able to hold his own on a battlefield and in a one-on-one fight; his sword skills are enough that he impressed the Crown Prince of Nohr, a highly skilled swordsman in his own right and a gifted military general.
-Gifted by the dragon Anankos, a few special steps by Laslow has the ability to bestow people around him with increased speed and physical strength, though only for a very short time.
-As the son of the Exalt Chrom, he does technically have the ability to wield the sacred sword Falchion of the Ylisse royal family; however, he doesn't know this, doesn't have the sword, and doesn't want it anyway.

CHARACTER: AU SECTION
AU NAME: Cyan Beaufort
AU AGE: 25
PHYSICAL DIFFERENCES: His build is generally the same, though built more for agility and lacking any of the upper arm strength that comes with swinging a sword. Virtually no scars from the life as mercenary that Laslow had lived; just one or two from maybe falling off something or taking a nasty wipeout as many reckless children do. Rather than grey or blue hair, his hair is naturally black, but he bleaches it blond and dyes a few strands of his bangs light blue. His hair is a little shorter than in canon, except for some bangs on the side that he keeps long enough to make into a little braid. Instead of purple eyes, Cyan's are light brown, and he bears no exalt brand in his right eye. He also has a few more extra piercings in his left ear than just the one. Here's a picture!that i didn't finish

AU HISTORY: Cyan was born to a Romani immigrant from the Balkans and an American businessman, in a story that Cyan loves to tell as love at first sight. His mother was a classical dancer for many years, and while she struggled to hit her break, his father happened to see her at a local performance; the two met at the show and fell in love, and eventually married. While his father worked for most of Cyan's life after he was born, his mother showered him with affection and attention at home. While she wasn't quite a total stay-at-home mother in full, when he was old enough she would bring him along to her practices and rehearsals, and his father would bring him to see her shows. From an early age he was fascinated with the movements of dance, and when he was coordinated enough to stand on his own, he began taking dance lessons of his own.
While he was still extremely shy as a child, Cyan was determined to perform on the stage. Growing up watching the going-ons of backstage, he tried to adapt the confident and charismatic attitude of other actors. He took ballet and tap dancing lessons when he was young, and took some ballroom classes when he was a teenager. When he was old enough, he began babysitting his two baby cousins, for whom he loved to put on little shows and try and practice in front of. When he was in high school he joined the school's theater club, and worked on each play the school put on in all four years he attended. The first year he assisted the tech crew (though he didn't have much of a mind for the machinery of the lights and soundboard, so he ended up mostly working on costumes), and from that point on was an actor in both the ensemble and in leading roles (though the lead he only took once, and the stage fright had practically made him sick every day the play ran). They certainly weren't Broadway-worthy productions, but Cyan was dedicated and talented, and had a fierce passion that he put into everything he did.
His high school theater teacher had encouraged him to apply to an arts college, and his father even encouraged him to try for Juiliard (a bit overzealous, but he was a proud parent)-- but aside from his extracurriculars and the few art classes he got to take, Cyan was an... average student who had trouble focusing in class, and he didn't quite fancy the idea of attending more school. He did end up getting an associate's degree in Performing Arts, and around the time he graduated, his mother departed for a tour with her ballet company, and his father went with her; his mother had offered to let him come along, as there would surely be a place for him once he got his feet wet, but Cyan had declined. He was attached to the city, disinterested in being a classical dancer (as despite his classes as a kid he had erred more towards learning modern styles like breakdancing and hip hop with other kids as he got older), and was determined to hit his own big break under his own merit. Though mother and son adored each other, and each had tears in their eyes, his parents departed.
Free from the confines of the educational system, Cyan took odd jobs here and there that paid enough and allowed him to dedicate his off time to rehearsing and pursuing his dream on the stage. When he was old enough to drink he'd worked at a bar for a short time, and after that he came to work at the city's Sunshine Host Club, where he was allowed to spend the entire night flirting with cute girls and drinking to his hearts content. Certainly not a bad gig to have while he's waiting to hit it bigger.
AU PERSONALITY: Although still born as aa very shy and sensitive child, Cyan grew up in a much more healthy environment with living parents and without the whole end of the world dragon warfare going on. His mother adored him, and while his father was often busy he still made sure Cyan knew he loved him as well, and so he grew up to have a healthy amount of confidence esteem. He no longer has to bluster through shitty pick-up lines to get himself to talk to people properly, and instead his friendly nature is much more visible and he himself is much more up front. Although he's an only child now, his parents were unabashed in their affections, and so he returns that to his other family members, further nurturing his ability to actually have competent social interaction. He's much more eager to talk to people without feeling the need to cover up his nerves, and so he doesn't get embarrassed... quite as easily.
Thanks to developing confidence in a more natural way, and not having to put his interests aside in order to learn to defend himself, Cyan is much more sure of himself when it comes to his passion for dance. He isn't as self-conscious when other people watch him (though will still get mad when someone's watching him when he's not perfected something), and is in fact much more excited to show people what he can do and talk about the arts. Unfortunately he's still afflicted with stage fright, stemming both from his perfectionism and natural anxiety. He's aware that this is entirely ridiculous however, and for the most part is able to calm himself down because of his excitement to perform. And, with more resources readily available, he is much more voracious to consume knowledge about his passions-- although not so enthused about paying attention in school. He's still an introvert at heart so while he loves talking to people, he still likes to spend time alone practicing and studying (well, back when he actually studied).
Since he hasn't grown up in significant conflict, he is much less of a worrier-- he will still fret over little things (and can get stuck in his own head and overthink things), but instead of it being an overdramatic exaggeration, they seem to be much more important concerns to him (instead of something to distract from the gloomy nature of reality). On the flip side, when real problems present themselves, he becomes more serious, and will address it readily rather than trying to smooth things over-- although he'll do this in a very nervous and uncomfortable way. However, since he has less anxieties and more confidence, this also means it's considerably more of a habit that he put his foot in his mouth-- never with bad intentions, but he tends to ramble freely and cheerfully, which has the potential to either be overwhelming or result in him saying something stupid. And, since he's never really been in a fight (well, maybe a fist fight in middle school, but it was over something both parties have long since forgotten about), although he's a bit more reckless, he has less of an instinct to protect people automatically. His instinct to help people is still present, but he's more likely to jump off a bridge in some stupid dare than physically defend someone.
All in all he has grown into a much more social creature; although he doesn't think about the future, he isn't hesitant or anxious about it, and is fine with proceeding at his own pace without the fear of loss.
